As all of you know that Facebook has just added many new features to enhance the social network browsing experience. Since the launch of Google+, I must say Facebook has been doing quite well to get the old users back who moved to Google+ for a while. No wonder Google+ has failed, so far, to displace Facebook.

With so many new features added to Facebook recently, you might not be knowing how to use these new features. In this post, I’m going to share 5 tips to protect your privacy on Facebook. Read them all below and please share the post if you like them.
Beware of the new Ticker Box
Know that every status or comment that you post on other friends’ status will automatically show up on all your friends’ ticker box. So beware of the Ticker box and think twice before you post something or comment on any of your friends status. If you getting annoyed with the Ticker box on the Facebook homepage, you can remove it easily. Just visit this post – Remove Ticker Feed From Facebook Sidebar. By the way, you can DM all your friends to use this trick to remove the Ticker box so that you can comment on anyone’s status freely.
See how your profile looks to the world
Facebook has just added this feature on everyone’s profile. Go to your profile and click the ‘View as’ button at the top right of the Facebook screen. Enter the name of a specific friend to see how your profile looks to him/her. Also, you can see how your profile appears to Public by clicking on the ‘Public’ button. Then, edit your profile if needed.
Who can see your posts
If you don’t know about the sharing settings (Take a look at the Image below) beneath the status box yet, you haven’t visited Facebook lately. Facebook now allows you to select who can view your posts. Always remember to use the sharing settings before you update a status on your Facebook profile.
Subscribe button
Facebook has enabled the subscribe button you can add to your profile page. Those people who click on your subscribe button, they will automatically receive your status updates if you’ve set ‘Public’ in the sharing settings. It’s your choice whether you want to put the subscribe button on your profile or not. You, too, can subscribe to anyone who has enabled the subscribe button, even celebrities’ account . Subscribing to somebody’s public updates is a public act, just like following on Twitter.
Review Posts/Pictures friends tag you in before they appear on your profile
When a friend tag you in a photo or post, it immediately appears on your profile too. If you don’t have any problem with that, just skip this point. If you want to review posts or pictures before they appear on your profile, you can turn on the ‘review’ option by visiting the privacy settings and then ‘How tags work’. Click to edit your Tag Review setting and Turn on Tag Review.
Additional tip: Hide your Facebook profile from search engines
If you don’t your Facebook profile to appear when people search on your name, you can block your profile from search engines by visiting ‘Privacy settings’ and ‘Apps and Websites’. Click edit settings and on the next page, scroll down to the bottom and click ‘Edit settings’ next to ‘Public Search’. Uncheck the box next to ‘Enable public search’.
