A month ago Facebook launched the new timeline, which allows users to share the story of their life from the beginning. With the introduction of Timeline, Facebook profile pages have become an amazing visualization of online and offline life. Facebook users, with the help of Timeline, are now more interested to share their history by adding it as photos or status on their timeline at appropriate time period and it’s pretty clear that the Timeline feature on Facebook has been a hit so far.
Until now, if you had to add information on your Timeline in the past, you would click on the timeline in the right sidebar to zoom in to that time period. Today Facebook has launched a new Timestamp feature that will allow users to easily add information on their Facebook timeline in the past. The new feature is now live and all Facebook users who have the new Timeline can now add items on their Facebook Timeline in the past.

The new feature is only available to those users who have upgraded to the new Facebook Timeline. I’ve already shared a post with the instructions on how to get new Facebook timeline. If you have missed, head over to that post and get new timeline right now, and once you’re done, come back to this post , as I’m going to tell you how to use Facebook Timestamp feature on new Timeline.
How To Add Events on Facebook Timeline in the past?
1) Go to your Facebook profile. You’ll see the new profile page with a header image and the timeline at the right sidebar. To add an item on your Facebook timeline in the past, just hover over the central blue line and click the plus symbol that appears.
2) A status update window will be opened up. you will see a small clock icon (see the image below) at the bottom left corner of the update box. Clicking on the clock icon will conjure up the fields and let you enter the year, month and date.
3) Write a status update and set the time where you want the status appear on your Timeline. Once you publish it, Facebook will position the update on your Timeline accordingly. It’s that easy.
Using this way, you can add photos, events, videos or anything on your Timeline in the past. You must have noticed that Facebook has been constantly making changes to improve user’s social networking experience. Recently they announced two new security features – Trusted Friends and Application Passwords. This shows that Facebook not only cares about the social networking experience but also care about the user’s data security that has always been a matter of concern. I have written a detailed post on how to secure your Facebook account with new security features. Go read the post and make your Facebook account more secure.
